Display

The display is one of the interesting factor of this device, as the display now folds. It has a 6.7inch foldable dynamic amoled display and also supports HDR10+.

One drawback of the display is that the display is made of ultra thin glass, this glass breaks when consumers do not take good care, for that not to happen they have put another layer of plastic protector to protect the display. But still even though they have done a lot to protect the screen, if you mishandle the phone especially with the display you might end up breaking the screen.

Design

As you know this is a foldable phone, for a foldable phone the hinge should play its part. In this phone it very well plays it. HOW? Samsung had added a sweeper technology inside the hinge to keep away and dirt or dust from coming inside it, as it destroys the phone, and their hinge mechanism is so steady and smooth it works properly almost every time.

Camera

Samsung have added a OK level of camera in the z flip. It has only two cameras at the back which is 12MP(primary wide cam) and 12MP(ultrawide cam), it also has the capability of shooting video in 4K@30/60fps. The selfie camera is 10MP(wide) and has the capability of shooting 4K@30fps, the selfies sometime look so smooth and so bright, this would damage the picture. The photos coming out of this device is a OK quality meaning it is not so upto the mark when compared to the S20s.

As always Samsung does with its cameras, they eventually smoothen all the pictures and also tend to over brighten it too. If you’re buying this device for it’s camera capabilities then I should say, it’s not so great as the way Samsung had marketed it.

Extra features

When Samsung launches a phone it always add a lot of non beneficial features into it, and this device is no exception, so here are they:

The small view finder

The view finder is so small that you cannot do anything in it. But Samsung have still packed something in it. First thing is that you can take photo through the view finder without opening the phone but the view finder is so small you cannot see your self fully in it. Secondly you can access phone calls, notifications, etc through the view finder.

Battery & processor

There is a 3300mAh battery in it. It has a fair amount battery life which lasts barely a day or may last full day for non heavy users. This devices is capable of 12W fast charging and also wireless charging to.

It has snapdragon 855+ processor which was last years(2019) best processor but they couldn’t put this years (2020) best processor which is snapdragon 856. For most users this wouldn’t be a problem.

Styles

Z flip comes in three colors which are mirror black, mirror pink, mirror gold (only in some countries) and a Thom Browne Edition.

Security

It has a fingerprint sensor on the side. As a indisplay fingerprint scanner cannot be implemented on a soft flexible display. The phone is 6.7inch, as the device is huge the fingerprint sensor’s placement is at the top and is difficult to access it.

In short

The z flip is a tempting device, but it has a lot of drawbacks like a poor quality camera, a breakable display if not taken care properly, etc. If you want to buy I’m not stoping you, but you have to consider all the pros and cons about this device. And that too, it’s a pretty pricey device for a these kind of old specs.
